Modern Combatives and the 1-244th National Guard

Professor Raffael Ellwanger of GB South and Regional Director had the opportunity to teach Modern Army Combatives to the 1-244th assault helicopter battalion .

Pilot Captain Andre Jeansonne , a GB South student, invited Prof. Ellwanger to help him during this certification course which included working with 300 National Guard soldiers and preparing them for their certification level 1 in hand to hand combat.

Prof. Rafael, "I am very proud to help the national guard in my home town Hammond Louisiana. I will make sure that we will have one of the best hand to hand class in the nation."

BIloxi Police training Camp

Another law enforcement organization started to enjoy the benefits of training Jiu-Jitsus self-defense techniques.

GMA member Rafael Ellwanger, of Gracie Barra Northshore, in Louisiana, just started a training program with the Biloxi Police Academy, in Mississippi.

The first session happened recently, as Ellwanger tells us:

We schedule a training session with the Biloxi-MS Police Academy to train the cadet. It was a free class to help them in the hand to hand combat. The class was taught by Coach Jim Davis from Gracie Barra Wiggins.

Last Saturday, April 2nd, GMA member school Gracie Barra Louisiana, in Hammond, hosted a free self defense class for the young US Marines.

Professor Rafael Ellwanger taught the kids and helped them with some basic knowledge from BJJ.

The class had around 20 kids from all over Tangipahoa parish under the supervision of Sargent Vernon and Sargent Jackson

After the 2 hours training session, the kids got a participation medal, Gracie Barra t-shirt and were offered lunch with hamburgers and hot dogs.

Health:

1.Drink plenty of water.

It is pretty amazing that we are in the seventh edition of the Gracie Barra Tournaments for GB members only!
A big thanks to everyone who made the Compnet 7 such a success. To all the students, staff, instructors, spectators and competitors we could not have done it with out you!

Compnet 6

Compnet 6 was a tremendous success, we had a great amount of competitors from Texas, south Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

This is the 1st event outside California came to new Orleans and will stay every year from now on, we will have the compnet southeast in new Orleans, a week before Halloween.

We gave the ambassador diploma to all theGB instructors/professors that supported the event

They make a lot of mistakes on the techniques stand point, lose a lot of good positions, positions that they not supposed to lose.
Overall, the ground game in MMA is bad!!!!"
